St. Mary strives for excellence in academics as well as guidance in spiritual growth. Since Catholic education encompasses every area of a child's development, St. Mary is concerned also with the physical and emotional development of each of its students. Health services at St. Mary are provided in the health room by parental volunteers in the nursing field. Current health records are maintained and vision and hearing screenings are conducted at appropriate intervals. Emergency cards are on file for each student. St. Mary has its own school cafeteria which provides a nutritious, hot lunch daily at a reasonable cost for the students . Many students buy lunch in the cafeteria; many bring a packed lunch from home. Most St. Mary students travel by car to school, and efforts are made to help those who need assistance with carpooling arrangement. There is bus service for those residing in the state of Pennsylvania. St. Mary School publishes a parent/student handbook which clearly states the philosophy, the policies, and the procedures of the school. All general information, including the daily schedule, dress code, discipline policy, grading system, and tuition are stated in the handbook. The ideals of Christianity: respect, understanding, caring, and compassion are emphasized. St. Mary instills in the students a wide range of values, morals, ideas, and examples which reflect the teaching of the Catholic Church. The school provides a bond among pastors, teachers, parents, students, and the community. There exists at St. Mary School an environment of mutual support and caring. This mutual support makes St. Mary a pleasant and happy learning environment for each student. |
